Volunteer Monitor Information

Take advantage of this opportunity to attend a session at no charge by serving as a volunteer session monitor at the 2009 West Coast Conference on Aging.

Monitors must be members of ASA.

Take advantage of this opportunity, volunteer one full day and attend a second conference day at no charge. Please review the requirements below, complete and submit the application. Applications will be reviewed on August 14th. Accepted volunteers will be notified no later than August 17th with a confirmed schedule. Your complimentary registration will be processed shortly thereafter and you will receive a confirmation by email (CEUs are not included and require full payment). Priority is given to full time students.

Session monitors are an important and appreciated part of the ASA conference team. Monitors help ASA staff expand our effectiveness in delivering an excellent experience to faculty and attendees. Monitors must be able to arrive at 8:00 and work until 4:30 pm; stand for extended periods of time, exhibit excellent customer service skills, manage multiple requests simultaneously, and work well within a team. Some monitor responsibilities include:

  • Arrive at the conference registration desk by 8:00 am and check out by 4:30 pm.
  • Please pick up the session roster from the registration desk, and then station yourself at the entrance to the assigned classroom. We ask that you check in each person that comes into the classroom, ensuring that they are in the correct session.
  • If the presenter has handouts, he/she may ask you to help pass them out to the class.
  • If there are any technical problems with the AV, or the conference room, upon the request of the presenter, please return to the registration desk to alert ASA staff to the situation/problem.
  • Monitors are able to attend the session(s) that they are monitoring. We don’t expect that the monitoring responsibilities will have much of an impact on your ability to enjoy and learn from the session at the same level as any of the other attendees in the session.
  • At the session conclusion, it is extremely important to collect a completed session evaluation for each attendee and return the packet of materials to the registration desk.

This is an excellent opportunity to meet and learn from professionals in the field of aging.
