Program Objectives

  • Join the largest annual gathering of esteemed leaders in aging that will transfer knowledge and insights to future leaders through this Academy.
  • Learn major theories, concepts, policies, philosophies that impact this field.
  • Experience a safe learning environment to explore personal leadership styles and spot opportunities for expanding capabilities and capacities.
  • Understand the necessity of leading in a multicultural inclusive team of professionals who reflect diverse views and opinions.
  • Envision oneself as a transformational leader in our changing society.
  • Learn from successful leaders who have worked around barriers to solve small and big issues, creating sustained improvement.
  • Spend three months developing a reference group with classmates forming a national network of colleagues who will share resources, ideas, and helpful information in future years.
  • Become one of the leaders whose increasing effectiveness will directly impact the future of aging.

  • Thirty-three hours of continuing education units for 100% completion of the program 

Successful Participants

This unique leadership development opportunity is open to all professionals in the field of aging who have at least five years’ experience and a strong interest in building personal leadership skills, capabilities and developing a career plan. Full participation in all assignments, web seminars and lectures during the five-day conference is mandatory (Conference faculty members who wish to participate in the Leadership Academy will be excused to make one hour-long presentation.) Once successfully enrolled, participants
will complete an online assessment and receive pre-reading materials and assignments.
