Guide for Using Health Statistics
This month, the American Society on Aging is collaborating with the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to bring you a series of live Web seminars that will help professionals in aging learn about data sources on major trends in health and healthcare involving older Americans. The sessions will be presented by leading experts from the NCHS: Jim Craver, public health analyst, Office of Analysis and Epidemiology; Jim Lubitz, acting chief, Aging and Chronic Disease Statistics Branch; and Lena Gorina, statistician.
- June 7, 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (1:00 p.m. Eastern). "From Demographics to Diabetes: Trends in Health and Aging -- What You Can Find There and How You Can Use It." An introduction to the NCHS Trends in Health and Aging website, including reports and teaching modules.
- June 14, 10:00 am Pacific (1:00 p.m. Eastern). "How to Find Information You Need at Trends in Health and Aging." Presenters will walk you through using the data tables and the other key features of the Trends in Health and Aging site.
- June 21, 10:00 am Pacific (1:00 p.m. Eastern). "Chronic Diseases: Everything You Wanted to Know About the Data But Did Not Know They Exist." Using diabetes as a case study, this session will show you how to use the Trends in Health and Aging site to find vital data about chronic conditions.
