Provider to Sponsor Study Tour in Israel
Amy R. Eisenstein |
ASA is partnering with Melabev, an award-winning organization caring for elders in Jerusalem who have Alzheimer’s disease, to present a geriatric study tour in Israel, Jan. 8-10, 2008. The program includes three days of site visits to facilities serving older adults, along with presentations by renowned lecturers from around the country. Partipants will learn about the latest developments in aging-related services in Israel and will return to work with new perspectives and new ideas for their own professional practice.
“We will visit such sites as unique retirement villages, sheltered housing arrangements, daycare centers and full-service facilities,” said ASA member Amy R. Eisenstein, one of the organizers of the trip. “Topics addressed will include a historical survey of geriatric care in Israel and how different ethnic groups such as Ethiopian, Russian and American immigrants, as well as the Druze community, care for their elders. We will also see innovations in Alzheimer’s care and technology.”
Registration is $450 per person -- or $380 for early-bird registration paid no later than Oct. 1. The fee includes transportation while on the tour, food and lodging for two nights and three days, site visits and lectures. Accommodations will be in kibbutz guest houses or hostels. For more information or to register, visit the Melabev website or write to melabev1@bezeqint.net.
