Recognizing Excellence in the Field of Aging

The ASA Award

Presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to aging-related research, administration or advocacy.

Please read the information below carefully before submitting nominations.

Purpose of the Award

The ASA Award is presented annually by the American Society on Aging to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of aging. The award is designed to:

  1. Recognize an individual who has made an outstanding and ongoing contribution to aging-related service, research, administration or advocacy on the national level.
  2. Create visibility for the field of aging and ASA.

Eligibility

Anyone may be nominated. Nominations may be made by any ASA member, friends or staff.

Criteria

Nominees will be judged on the basis of:

  1. Significant contributions to aging-related service, research, administration or advocacy.
  2. Impact on national policy or programs.
  3. Reputation as a renowned leader on aging issues.

Materials to Be Submitted

  1. A completed nomination form.
  2. A brief statement (maximum 500 words), attached to the nomination form, of how the nominee meets the criteria for the award. Give specific examples.
  3. Biography or CV of nominee.
  4. Letter of recommendation from someone other than the nominator.

Recognition

The ASA Award will be presented at the 2011 Aging in America Conference , to be held in San Francisco, CA, April 26-30, 2011.

Winners receive the following:

  • A biography profile included in the Conference program, which will be distributed to 3,500 attendees and posted on the ASA website.
  • Recognition by peers at an awards presentation.
  • Complimentary registration to the conference
