DriveWell: Promoting Older Driver Safety and Mobility in Your Community

Driving Transitions Education Program:
Tools, Scripts, and Practice Exercises

Many professionals serving older adults, their families and caregivers find themselves discussing the complex issues driving safety and driving transitions with those who come to them with trust and need for answers.  To engage in this important conversation with confidence, understanding and compassion, the American Society on Aging funded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, developed this companion program to DriveWell.

Driving Transitions gives these professionals step-by-step procedures for responding to inquiries about older driver safety, preparing the older adult and his or her family for the decisions they need to make, and discussing transitions from driving to alternatives that facilitate continued mobility and community involvement.
