Problem Gambling & Older Adults

The American Society on Aging is pleased to offer a second year of free training and technical assistance on older adult problem gambling.

The free training and technical assistance provides California non-profit organizations, and government agency personnel knowledge of issues in problem gambling and older adults.

Training Objectives:

  • To train non-profit organizations, and government agency personnel on older adult problem gambling prevention.
  • To provide information on treatment resources.
  • To help these professionals recognize the signs of problem gambling.
  • To learn about problem gambling research, and apply it to program development.
  • To develop strategies that address responsible gambling in older adults.

Under contract to the National Asian Pacific American Families Against Substance Abuse (NAPAFASA), with funding from the Office of Problem Gambling of the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, the American Society on Aging (ASA) provides training on the topic of "Problem Gambling and Older Adults."

The American Society on Aging offered a FREE web-based training program entitled, “You Bet Your Life Savings: Problem Gambling and Older Adults” on June 27, 2007. The training, which was designed to teach you about key issues related to problem gambling among older adults, is now available on demand.
