    Award Winners

    The ASA Undergraduate Student Award is presented annually by ASA to an undergraduate student for original work related to the NCOA-ASA Joint Conference theme.

    2005 ASA UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT AWARD

    Patricia Kuo

    Durham, NC

    Originally from Visalia, California, Patricia Kuo currently attends Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. Patricia is a senior, pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a Concentration in Neuroscience, minor in chemistry, and Certificate in Human Development.

    Patricia has also been involved with other psychology research. She is in candidacy for a Distinction Thesis, which focuses on her cognitive neuroscience research on temporal perception among aged and Parkinson's Disease populations. Patricia has received various grants for this research. In addition, she is a 2005 Howard Hughes Fellow in Neural Sciences.

    Patricia is involved in the Duke University Red Cross club and serves as the Chairperson of the Red Cross for Kids committee, organizing programs to promote health awareness among youth in the community. She has also been a Resident Assistant on campus for the past two years, providing counsel and developing programs for her peers. Patricia is also a member of Delta Gamma sorority, serving as the Vice President of Finance. In addition, Patricia spends time volunteering at a local nursing home.
