CE Journalist Panel 06Veteran journalists on the age beat explored the challenges of covering issues in civic engagement at the recent 2006 NCOA-ASA Joint Conference in Anaheim, during a special lunch-time panel titled "Civic Engagement in the Age Boom: What It Is and Where the Stories Are." This panel was part of the work done with ASA's Journalists Exchange on Aging as a way to infuse the concepts of civic engagement into the media and was sponsored by the Atlantic Philanthropies. On the far right is Karen Reyes, manager of editorial projects for AARP Magazine. Others shown from left side are Jane Glenn Haas, columnist, Orange County Register; and Elizabeth Pope, a freelance contributor to Time, the New York Times and other publications.
