ASA is committed to advancing a new standard of professionalism in aging, with diversity and cultural competence at its core. Through special initiatives -- New Ventures in Leadership, Serving Elders of Color, California Multicultural Institute on Aging and Healthcare, and an Online Multicultural Aging Network -- ASA has striven to develop leadership in the field of aging that is representative of the racial, ethnic and cultural diversity of the populations we serve. New Ventures in Leadership (NVL) continues to be our flagship program on diversity. Please visit the program’s web page (link below) to learn more about NVL. We also invite ASA members to be part of the Network of Multicultural Aging, a national community of organizations and individuals who are working toward cultural competence on all levels. While OMAN and SEOC are not active at this time, there are still useful resources available online (links below as well). Our Joint Conference are also major sources of information and activities related to diversity and aging. Please visit www.agingconference.org for the latest information on our upcoming Joint Conference. We envision that we will be providing new initiatives on diversity and aging in the next year, please stay tuned to this web page for future updates.
