Diversity and The
Aging Network: An Assessment Handbook
by National Aging Resource
Center: Long-Term Care, Brandeis University
32 pages, December
1991
Increasingly, practitioners
and others are coming to recognize the diversity of elders who need ongoing
care. There are many challenges faced by service providers as they strive
to adopt a multicultural approach in serving the elderly and the disabled
within their communities. Diversity and The Aging Network: An Assessment
Handbook presents some practical ways to assess how your organization
or network of aging service providers can address multiculturalism.
Organized into three
sections, the handbook is designed to guide diversity assessment at the
personal, agency and network levels by exploring six domains, or functional
areas, to assess how an organization is doing in regards to diversity
and multiculturalism. The domains examined are: Governance and administration;
personnel practices and staffing pattern; service offerings and caregiving
approaches; targeting; and marketing and outreach.
This handbook is available
to you at no charge. For a copy, please contact pault@asaging.org.
