Memory programs and brain health promotion are the in demand. Is your community ready? Receive a $1200 award to publicize and host a MindAlert Speakers’ Bureau program.
The MindAlert Speakers’ Bureau draws its faculty from the Annual MindAlert Awards winners from the past seven years. These award-winning programs address steps communities, professionals and older adults can take to maintain and enhance cognitive and mental functions in their later years. The Speakers’ Bureau faculty members will come to your site for an exclusive training on brain fitness. Now in its seventh year, this exceptional program funded by MetLife Foundation provides resources and expertise to local communities for increasing the skills of local professionals in conducting mental fitness activities.
Who is Eligible? ASA members from within the United States may apply for any one of the MindAlert Speakers’ Bureau Programs. The lead applicant agency must be a 501(c)(3) designated non-profit organization.
What is Included in the Award? Five sites will be awarded $1200, plus ASA will cover costs for faculty honorarium, travel and hotel accommodations. Winning host sites will designate first and second choices of the Bureau’s faculty members. Sites should anticipate offering these programs between May-September 2010.

The Winning Host Sites are Required to:
1. Develop a promotional plan that will
- Attract at least 25 professionals interested in furthering MindAlert training among local older community members to attend the session
- Recruit 15-20 older adults to participate in the session's a demonstration program
2. Locate and secure
- An accessible facility to accommodate 50 participants
- Catering services to accommodate morning refreshments for all participants and lunch for professionals participating in the program
- Audiovisual equipment as requested by the faculty
3. Coordinate
- Registrations of all participants
- Program handouts
- Evaluations
