Generations Spring 2003, Vol. 27, No. 1 Amy Horowitz and Cynthia Stuen, guest editors
Vision, hearing, taste, smell, and the somatosensory systems for touch, pain, temperature, and balance are the critical means by which people interact with the world around them and with others. How older people, families, and service providers can address the normal age-related changes and the abnormal diseases and conditions that affect the senses in later life is the focus of this issue of Generations. The issue includes a look at normal age-related changes versus age-related disorders, the latest medical and surgical treatments, risk factors, consequences for everyday function and quality of life, and promising rehabilitation options.
