In the ten years since publication of "Progress and Prospects in Mental Health," the first issue of Generations to focus on mental health and aging, this emerging field has seen unimagined advances. Now, the current issue's guest editors Michael Smyer and Stephen Bartels, past presidents of the Section on Clinical Geropsychology of the American Psychological Association and the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry, respectively, have assembled a distinguished group of authors to present the latest developments, with particular attention to the need to put the gains of research into practice.
