ASA Chicagoland Roundtable - Human Longevity – What is Life Expectancy?

Friday, August 3, 2018
8:30 am – 10:30 am

Location:

Professional Building
1725 W Harrison St
Searle Conference Center
Elevator II 5th floor 542 Brainard
Chicago, IL 60612

There is a debate amongst gerontologists regarding the extent of the “real” life span for humans.  Recent studies have raised the proposition that for people who survive past 105, the predictability of when death will occur plateaus at a level of 0.5.  Thus, certain authors suggest that the human lifespan is limitless.

This session will discuss the current understanding of life expectancy and the questions raised about it, what it means to the older person you serve and support, and what can be expected going forward.  Our expert panelists and (through your questions and contributions) you, will contribute to the discussion of this very current topic.
