Extra Financial Help for Low-Income Beneficiaries
There is extra help for people with limited income and resources. If
your Medicare clients qualify for the low-income subsidy, they may have
little or no out-of-pocket expenses. Medicare participants qualify if:
- they are single and have an income less than $14,355 and have resources
(savings, investments, and real estate other than your home) less than
$11,500; or,
- they are married (and living with a spouse) and have an income less
than $19,245 and have resources less than $23,000.
Medicare participants can apply online to see if they qualify for extra
help at www.socialsecurity.gov.
Please note that the online application is for extra help with
premiums, deductibles and co-pays for Medicare prescription drug coverage
and is not an application for coverage under a prescription drug plan.
Participants need to enroll directly with an approved Medicare prescription
drug plan for coverage.
