Georgia Gerontology Society (GGS) is committed to "promoting quality leadership in aging." The Society was founded in 1955 as a membership organization of people with a common interest in the field of aging. GGS is the largest state organization of multidisciplinary professionals in the field of aging. The Society is currently divided into six sections and two local chapters affording members opportunity to pursue common goals and endeavors.
GGS enhances public awareness of the needs, rights and continuing contributions of older persons, promotes efforts to meet the needs of older persons through innovative and state of the art approaches to service, provides student scholarships and promotes career development in gerontology, serves as a focal point for senior advocacy relating to public and social policy within the state of Georgia and collaborates with other organizations in expanding services, programs, education and research in aging.
