What started as a high school community service project, and inspired a critically acclaimed  documentary film, is now the force behind the Cyber-Seniors—Connecting Generations Campaign, which is working in collaboration with the AARP Foundation’s Mentor Up program. Lisa Marsh Ryerson, president, AARP Foundation, and Brenda Rusnak, producer, Cyber- Seniors, will discuss the importance of intergenerational collaboration in bridging the digital divide, and present an innovative model for disseminating information and supporting change through youth-driven community projects. 

Presenters:

Lisa Marsh Ryerson, president, AARP Foundation, is responsible for setting the strategic direction  for AARP Foundation and leading the organization’s comprehensive development and social impact  initiatives. Prior to joining AARP Foundation in late 2013, she served as president and CEO of Wells College in Aurora, New York, where led she led the largest campaign in the college’s history, increasing enrollment by 45 percent and fueling the community’s revitalization.

 

Brenda Rusnak, producer, is an entrepreneur with 30 years of business experience. She is the founder  and president of Best Part Productions Inc. in Toronto, Canada. A physiotherapist by training, Brenda’s professional career has been spent as an entrepreneur who provides rehabilitation solutions for senior citizens. She received the Canadian Healthcare Manager’s Who’s Who in Healthcare Technology Award for leadership and vision in the field. In 2009, she sold her healthcare company, which was garnering $30 million in revenue, to pursue her interest in film production. She since has partnered with financiers, researchers, filmmakers, and field experts to create and produce compelling films.
