Age-friendly communities have had a significant impact upon the lives—and older age—of elders in America. The New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM), in support of GIA's Community AGEnda program (sponsored by The Pfizer Foundation), offers this informative session that shares innovative strategies to promote aging in community and presents the supporting evidence that such strategies are effective and replicable.

Derenda Schubert, Executive Director of Bridge Meadows Intergenerational Community, is a psychologist with professional experience, which includes counseling children and families, and creating and managing programs in the realms of foster care, mental health and developmental disabilities. Prior to joining the Bridge Meadows team, she was Chief Operating Officer of Trillium Family Services, based in Portland, Oregon, and a Bridge Meadows board member.
