Creating welcoming environments that prevent LGBT bias and discrimination takes time, effort and commitment on the part of aging service organizations. During the session, we will explore ways to prevent bias and create inclusive services. Also discussed will be programming ideas and polices that promote respect and safety for LGBT older adults. And finally, we will examine how inclusive environments can improve the health and happiness of both and staff and constituents.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Identity eight suggestions for preventing bias and creating inclusive services;
  • Discuss concrete programming ideas and policies to ensure staff and constituents feel respected and safe; and,
  • Describe how an inclusive environment can improve the health and happiness of both staff and constituents.

Presenter:

Sadiya Abjani is the training specialist at SAGE, focused on delivering aging and LGBT–related curriculum for SAGE constituents.
