We are delighted to convene our annual discussion about Aging Policy and Practice.

This year, we have invited Peter Kaldes, the American Society on Aging’s Chief Executive Officer, and Amy Herr, Director Health Policy at West Health and co-chair of ASA’s Public Policy Committee, to discuss ASA’s new Strategic Plan and enhanced focus on increasing aging professionals’ role as Advocates on behalf of older persons, the aging network, and the aging services workforce. Peter and Amy will describe the ambitious Plan and the policy environment in this election season.

Paula Basta, Illinois Department on Aging Director and Lora McCurdy, Deputy Director will provide an update on Illinois’ Policy goals and challenges. Paula is Past Chair of ASA’s LAIN (LGBT Aging Issues Network) Constituent Group and a frequent contributor to ASA Programming.

Robyn Golden, Associate Vice President for Population Health and Aging, Rush University Medical Center will respond to the ASA Plan and the Illinois scene from her perspective as a former Chair of ASA and a leading advocate for aging services nationally and in Illinois. Finally, we will have time for a robust discussion about the current environment, issues, and opportunities.

We anticipate that this Zoom Meeting will provide an excellent forum to learn more about the status of aging issues on a national, state, and local level, help understand the approach of ASA and offer guidance to our national organization and to the Illinois Department on Aging.
