ASA Joins Opposition to Proposed Public Charge Rule Change

This week, ASA joined with many other member organizations of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO) to oppose the proposed change of rules by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for expanding the “public charge” policy to determine eligibility for permanent residency status.

LCAO Chair Richard J. Fiesta, Executive Director of the Alliance for Retired Americans, sent a letter to the Chief of the Regulatory Coordination Divsion of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services within DHS opposing the rule change and urging the Deparment to withdraw the proposed change in its entirety.
