LCAO Advocates for Major Initiatives

On April 8, the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations (LCAO), a coalition of more than 70 national organizations in aging services and policy, sent a 17-page letter to Capitol Hill legislative leaders outlining a comprehensive range of measures to better prepare the nation for dealing with the impact of COVID-19 on its older population. ASA is a member organization of LCAO and signed on to the letter.

From measures to bolster access to affordable housing, to income security, HCBS, support for Medicare and Medicaid and expansion of eligibility, to support for state LTC Ombudsman programs and the Social Services Block Grant, the letter details a range of policy measures that could dramatically strengthen and improve capacity in states and communities to weather the challenges presented by the pandemic. ASA encourages members to use the letter in their individual advocacy during this unprecedented time.
