Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams (E-MDTs) bring professionals together from across disciplines and systems, to offer a central point of response to complex elder abuse cases in the community. E-MDTs have been proven to improve the effectiveness of the response to cases of elder abuse and efficiently use scarce resources. This session will introduce participants to the Enhanced Multidisciplinary Team model, its history, structure, expansion to all New York State counties, and the adaptations made during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • This presentation will provide an overview of the structure of Enhanced Multidisciplinary Teams and a brief history of the MDT model.
  • This presentation will familiarize attendees with the teams started and coordinated by the NYC Elder Abuse Center/Weill Cornell Medicine and the qualities that make them “enhanced.”
  • Attendees of this presentation will learn how to identify complex elder abuse cases that require the multidisciplinary approach.
  • Attendees will learn about the current expansion of E-MDTs across New York State.
  • Attendees will learn about how the E-MDTs have adapted to seamlessly providing services during COVID-19
