This presentation will describe the development of an initiative aimed at identifying older adults who need intervention to improve their balance and decrease risk for falling. This holistic approach is developed under the partnership of an academic institution and a seniors group in a collaborative and interprofessional exchange of expertise and ideas. The inclusion of technology in the interventions to improve balance and decrease fall risk allows for objective measures of success indicators.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Describe an interprofessional initiative to identify older adults who are at risk for falls and provide them with an evidence-based intervention program to improve their balance.
  • Discuss the incorporation of technology to enhance outcomes.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the fall prevention initiative
  • Examine the feasibility of applying the initiative in their own communities.
