During this web seminar, Marguerite Manteau-Rao will introduce the key components of the Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care (MBDC) approach to training family caregivers and professionals. Mindfulness, the practice of being aware of the present moment, on purpose, and without judgment has been proven to be a powerful stress-reduction tool. You will learn some essential practices for yourself and also your caregiver clients to help reduce caregiving stress, as well as how to practice mindful, person-centered care with people who have with dementia.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of the Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care approach to training dementia family care partners and professional care providers;
  • Practice at least one beginning mindfulness practice and share it in their work with persons with dementia and their families; and,
  • Practice at least one mindful dementia care practice and share it in their work with persons with dementia and their families.

Presenters:

Marguerite Manteau-RaoMarguerite Manteau-Rao is COO and co-founder of Neurocern, a neuroscience-based dementia technology startup. Prior to Neurocern, Marguerite developed the Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care (MBDC) approach. MBDC has been taught and researched at leading academic institutions throughout the United States, and is the topic of Marguerite's new book, Caring for a Loved One with Dementia: A Mindfulness-Based Guide for Reducing Stress and Making the Best of Your Journey Together (Oakland, CA: New Harbinger Publications, 2016).
