This webinar is based on a workshop that was presented at the 2016 Aging in America Conference.

This web seminar is based on the 2016 Aging in America Conference (AIA) workshop “Social Media for Professionals in Aging.”

Social media platforms are changing the way Area Agencies on Aging, health promotion programs, gerontologists, geriatricians, doctoral candidates, students and professionals in aging services communicate. Today, social media offers us a way to directly connect and interact with clients, influencers and policy makers. This web seminar will identify social media platforms, their demographics and offer suggestions on how individuals and their organizations can benefit from connecting to their clients using social media.

Participants in this web seminar will be able to:

  • Explain the benefits of using social media to reach their clients;
  • Identify five characteristics of a client avatar;
  • Describe the main characteristics of social media platforms; and,
  • Differentiate between social media platforms to reach clients and client influencers.

Presenters:

Judi Bonilla is the director of Program Innovation for Advocates for Aging, a Social Media expert, and author of the ebook Freewheeling after Sixty: Your Guide to Freedom and Mobility.
