Georgia Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education and Senior Citizens, Inc, Savannah, GA would like to invite you to participate in this affordable & essential training.

This elder abuse conference is designed to cover all aspects of abuse affecting at-risk adults. The aim of this conference is to bring significant players to the table to educate professionals and lay persons on the serious offense of elder abuse. We will explain the system, identify gaps, define issues and provide valuable resources. We will look at the types of abuse, warning signs of abuse and when and how to report. We will cover the role of Adult Protective Services and explore their mandate and also their limitations. We will discuss reporting obligations and red flags for nursing homes, personal care homes, and financial institutions. We will show how law enforcement and the District Attorney’s office partner and how other community agencies come into play when investigating and prosecuting abusers.

Join us as we discuss topics of Elder Abuse including how to recognize signs of neglect and abuse, APS Reporting, The Roll of Law Enforcement, Financial Exploitation of Seniors and Filling the GAPS in Elder Abuse. This annual conference will be held at the Coastal Georgia Center, Savannah, GA October 11, 2013. The agenda will include key information for Nurses, Physician’s Assistants, Marriage & Family therapists, Social Workers, CNA’s, Nursing Home personnel, Law Enforcement, Ombudsman, and LPCA’s. Exhibit space will be located in the main lobby of the Coastal Georgia Center, the center of the conference. We are prepared for exhibitors to bring tabletop displays. Each exhibitor will receive a skirted table for display of materials and will be listed in program materials.
