This presentation is designed to educate clinicians about the full range of end-of-life options, including medical aid in dying, VSED (Voluntary Stopping Eating and Drinking) and palliative sedation, and provide resources for patients who are managing a chronic disease or terminal diagnosis.

Participants in this webinar will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of identifying end-of-life goals and wishes and provide strategies for facilitating communication with patients.
  • Define hospice and palliative care at the end of life.
  • Explain medical aid in dying, its indications and the request process.
  • Explain VSED, its indications and stages of the dying process.
  • Define palliative sedation and its indications.

Susan WilhoitSusan Wilhoit, MD, a is a national medical director for Compassion & Choices. She is a family physician board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Wilhoit hopes that all of her patients live their lives in ways that are meaningful to them and does her best to ensure that their deaths are also full of meaning, authenticity and peace.
