Ten states and the District of Columbia currently authorize the practice of medical aid in dying, which allows terminally ill adults with decision-making capacity to request and receive from their doctor medication which they may self-ingest for a peaceful death. Drawing on his clinical experience writing prescriptions and being at the bedside during ingestion, Dr. Cory Carroll will present the clinical criteria and process of medical aid in dying and provide case examples of patients who benefited from this compassionate option.

Participants in this webinar will be able to:

  • Explain the practice of medical aid in dying, including clinical criteria and processes
  • Describe the common characteristics shared by patients who choose medical aid in dying
  • Articulate the benefits of medical aid in dying and its impact on the physician-patient relationship
